Just a thought

7000 hits yesterday, plus all the followers and barely nobody acknowledged the compilation albums. Yes they are a bit sloppy but other fans made them, I was hoping for more support!

Maybe this blog is only good for big names and leaks...

  1. I can't talk for everybody, but concerning myself, I don't like compilations, that's why you'll not see me commenting on them...
But I comment each time I dl something, or I come back when I've listened to it, just in respec of the dude who up it.

But 7000 hit and more than 1000 followers, I don't see hundreds of comments on each post...

  2. you and a handful of others always give thanks and respect and that means a lot to me when I focus time on the blog, but with all the hits and followers it just seems like there should be more, and i dont think anybody can disagree with that.

  3. I'm with Wild Thing on this... I do comment, but I also like to have something to say and I can't say I'm blessed with imagination or insight... but I am always grateful...

  4. Come on, gotta give us some time to download them all, listen to them all, and form an opinion. I mean that's what you asked for in the post?

Thanks for Earth. Now how about you cook us up some Napalm Death? ;)

maybe if You wrote an opinion on the each comp, it would give us more of a reason to engage. I came to your blog for the DLs but lack of insight and opinion on your posts kind of discourages me from taking the time to write anything thoughtful. Maybe if you posted less albums, and had a lengthier input about how much you loved or hated the record, we would come out to play. But when you just post album after album, just for the sake of it being tagged stoner/doom/blackmetal or whatever, it just seems very... uninspiring. I used to post here and there under different monikers, but there was never responses not even a "hell yes!" or a "Fuck off, you're opinion is shit!" people will pay attention and respond, but you got to make an effort to go beyond just posting like a madman. Give us your gusto or grief in detail son!

  6. Some of us are full album kind of guys. I don't listen to comp albums other than ones that contain an un-released track or maybe a cover tune by a band I dig. Although I'm guilty of the rip and run as after I've listened to the album I don't have time to come back and comment (or I forget to).

  9. I, amongst others, really appreciate what you do. One thing is that I find it difficult to comment on albums that I haven't yet heard (and let's face it, that's what blogs are for), and simply do not like compilations. I suppose I could stop by and say 'Thanks!' or something equally shallow, but as I said... it's shallow. No real meaning to it.

What I do do, however, is try and comment on albums that I've already heard when they pop up in an RSS - due to the high concentration of either submissions or new albums on Chairs, this rarely happens though. I can empathize - as you know, I run a blog myself and it seems sometimes that no-one gives a shit (and I feel that with only 500 daily hits), but your blog and the gems I find there make me smile.

    Thanks for all your work.

  10. When only a handful out of 7000+ show any kind of thanks why would I ever think that my opinion and insight would fall on ears that care. Even this post has only received 10 comments. When my links were deleted hundreds of people cried out, I saw massive amounts of support and then *pop* nothing. I just would like to see all those people who shouted out in the time of need to keep speaking. Not too much to ask.

  11. it's no wonder you feel under-appreciated. you put your neck on the line sharing all this amazing music for such little praise. i'm definitely guilty of not showing the love myself. i was too lazy to download a record, develop an opinion, and then find the original post to say "thanks". after the whole mediafire wipe, i'm much more appreciative and will be giving props every time i partake. thanks dude

  12. Thanks Tim! Sincerely! I mean it! I actually don't dl that much. I just like to read opinions and check out the latest shits. I think it's amazing that you put the opportunity to hear this stuff out there. No one can listen to it all and those that just grab everything are not your real followers anyway. Anyway, thanks again!

  13. I for one will download all the comps you posted, but I will need a little time to digest what I hear.I love your blog and would suffer greatly if you were not here,so thank you!

  14. Sometimes, you guys over here at the chairs post so much stuff, I can barely keep up. Most of the time I need to listen to an album several times. If I do thath, and be able to listen to my 'regular stuff' as well, I can download about 4 albums in a week. Heck, usualy I takes 5 listens, which I space out over almost a month! By that time, the post has already marched of to 'older posts'-land. The comps aren't realy my thing, I only enjoy when I make them myself to give to other people who don't knwo the artists yet. It's not that I don't apreciate what is going on. And with 7000+ hits, you have to realise, that a lot of internet users are hit and run people. People that don't wan't to participate and just see this blog as a fortunate google-hit. Big names attract people, always will, and among them are less thanful ones as well. The bandcamp links were a nice thought, but I prefer to stroll those shores by myself, see what I can buy there for a couple of euro's. Be assured that as long as this blog exists I will visit it and comment every now and then. I have found so much beauty here, that the people who posted here MUST have an opinion that matters, for they (you, Tim) have been the unknowing architects of perhaps 25% of my musical taste at this very moment.

  15. I understand people who are not motivated posting a comment if they see nothing written with the dl link and the artwork.
But rememebr The Swamp and Doomgrinder, who used to let pages of thoughts before posting the link, it was a massive work and they never get more than 10/15 comments...So you can't ask Tim and the Angry Team to work for hours without an equally respect from us, donwloaders.

With the disapearing of all the file-sharing sites (don't know how to call them), I appreciate more to be able to find someone posting a great album and I'm more grateful toward people spending their time to do it.

So thanks again Tim, and keep hope in People, we're a bunch of hardcore supporters around who will not let you down!
